Taming the Paper clutter

I think one of my toughest clutter jobs is Paper!!!  I have struggled and struggled.  I have made piles, I have thrown things out without looking (never a good idea), I have tried so many things.  Lately I found something that works.

I usually get the mail every day or every other day.  Kids come home with papers ALL the time, not to mention the papers or mail that have breeded outside of my control.  The one thing that I have managed to keep pretty clear and clutter free, has been my desk.  I can't even believe that that has been possible.  In the event of occasional slip ups, My hubby using the desk...It stays pretty clean.  I finally found a spot to put all my incoming papers to go through.
Simple!  Right at the edge of my desk.  When I see this pile, I KNOW it's time to go through some mail.  I actually enjoy this because it's organizing that gets done.
Don't look at the right side of the desk, that's clutter that needs to be put away ;)
I separate all my papers.
Top row: coupons, kids school paper/work,  Girl Scouts, receipts, Origami Owl paperwork.
Bottom row: magazines, Action papers, recycle and shred.

I tend to do this every couple of days and I enjoy it because all these papers get taken care of.  On the right side of my desk I have a desktop organizer that I file some of this paperwork in.  I'll post on a later adventure how I organize that.

I think this system works best for me because I know exactly where paperwork needs to go if I can't deal with it right away.  I don't let it go more that two days because I know some of my kids paperwork ends up having a deadline on it so it needs to be taken care of.  If you have a system please share with me what works for you.  If you don't, I hope this helps.

It's a Coffee kind of day... Iced coffee that is!!
This is by far my favorite Iced coffee.  You literally pour it over ice.  I'm not a real coffee fan.  I LOVE a cup of hot coffee with my favorite creamer, Peppermint, but that's only during the christmas season.  I actually feel more energy with a coke!!! Now I am from California we call Pepsi, Coke, Dr. Pepper, coke on occasion Dr. Pepper but generally when I say coke, I mean SODA!!!
Doesn't that look Delicious!!!
BIG fail putting on the coffee lid!  I decided to go with a coffee lid rather than a straw so I can take smaller drinks and enjoy it longer!
In my FAVORITE tervis cup, ready to go!

Laundry Day

Call me crazy!!! But there is something soothing to me about doing laundry.  I don't know if it's because it's something I definitely see get done or because I need to go back and wear the same thing I just wore (that's a whole other post).

I find that by doing my laundry I have a HUGE task completed.  The hardest part for me, like a lot of people is putting it away.  I've been doing my laundry on Sunday's for the longest time.  Usually we stay home on Sundays so it's nice to have all of our clothes clean for the start of the week.  If I stick to routine, I'll have laundry done and put away by Monday.

This is how I do our laundry:
I bring ALL of our laundry down to the kitchen (near the laundry room)
Then it gets sorted:
Next I put it in to my laundry bin, least important items go on the bottom of the sorter, most important go first.

I absolutely LOVE this sorter.  It has done wonders for me!! By far, one of my favorite Laundry items!

Now to START!!!
I have three Laundry bins on top of my washer and dryer.  First is for my husband and I, second is my son and daughter, they are still small so I can share a basket for them, last is the towels/sheets.  As soon as the dryer bell goes off, I am right there folding and sorting in to the right bins.  When the bins are full, I carry them right up to the right room and put away!
For some of my favorite pieces of clothing, I ALWAYS air dry them
Once it's dry, it hangs us on my handy dandy laundry sorter.  Ironing is always done on a different day of the week.

This is the way I have done my laundry for about Four and a half years now.  This system works for me, what works for you?  Just don't forget to put those clothes away or else this task is much harder ;)
