What I Made From Pinterest Wednesday Vol. 2

Ooh I am so glad the kiddos are getting ready to head back to school.  I mean I am sad that they won't be in the house but knowing that they are going to get back to school gave me a boost this past weekend to get some projects done.

I always dread dinner time.  I don't want to always make the same meals and I'm scared to try new ones because I'm afraid they'll be a FAIL!  Not this week, woooo hoooo I found a new recipe to put on rotation!

This was a super easy meal.  I almost didn't make it because I thought it was going to get all negatives.  But I'm so glad that I did because it was delicious.

BBQ Chicken Ranch French Bread

Ingredients:
1 loaf french bread
3 cups shredded chicken (I use rotisserie)
1-2 cups BBQ sauce
3-4 cups mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
1 avocado, diced
Ranch dressing

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Toss the shredded chicken with 1 cup bbq sauce (use more or less if desired). Cut the french bread in half length-wise.  Spread a thin layer of bbq sauce on each half of the bread.  Top with mozzarella cheese (about 1 1/2 cups on each slice). Top with bbq chicken, onion and avocado (dividing evenly among each half).
3. Broil for 3-5 minutes until cheese melted and bubbly. Sprinkle cilantro over the top and drizzle with ranch dressing.  Cut into thin slices and serve.

Make sure and visit sweettreatsmore.com to get this recipe.

I did not have a rotisserie so I just cooked chicken with bbq sauce in the crockpot and shredded it when it was done.  I also didn't add onion because it's like garlic and vampires with onion in this house.  I'm the only one that likes it.  I have never actually broiled anything but did for the first time and only had to have it in the oven for three minutes and it was cooked perfectly.

When my hubby came in the kitchen his eyes perked up really quick, he told the kids to come look at dinner and they both came running.  My son saw it and got happy and then saw what was really on it and looked grossed out. I'll tell you what, I will never go by their face expressions again, well the kiddos.  My hubby LOVED it!! He said it was SOOO good and immediately told me to add it to the list of meals.  I sat down and saw the Kyles plate was pretty much gone.  I asked him and he said "It's not good, it's GREAT!"  Kailey, well lets just say she really doesn't like anything

I am pleased to say that this was a BIG hit in the house.  Now the only thing I need to add to the list is photography lessons.  Wait, I think I've said that before?!

Until Next Time,
XOXO

Sprinkled All WRONG!

Whew, I am finally able to get back on and share some posts.  I got really really busy the last couple of weeks which was great but I had a hard time balancing my time.  Things have slowed down a little and the kids are on their last week of vacation before school starts back up and that means craziness in the House of Sherrard.

One of the biggest issues that never seems to go away, is the paper clutter going on in the house.  I can't even stand it.  For the most part I tend to have it under control but that's only because I deal with paper as it comes in.  All these pictures your about to see are paper from this Summer.

At the beginning of the Summer while I was setting up my desk area, I went through my paper files, oh yeah, you know those papers that you used to print out before Pinterest ever existed, yeah those files.  I went through all the printables that I have printed out over the last couple of years and PURGED!  It felt so good because I had some papers that I had no idea why I even had them.

I went through them, separated them by categories, looked them up and for some I found the original on Pinterest and just pinned it.  The rest went back in to my file.

If you follow me on Instagram you can see that I'm always posting silly things that bother me around the house.

This is one of those pictures!  I had FOUR separate piles of paper in different spots in the house!

Get it together Michelle!!!  OMG seriously I am soooo annoyed.  This is last nights pile!  I mean I walked through this tiny little house and I had random stuff everywhere!  See that deodorant?  Clearly it wasn't in the bathroom.  I have deodorant issues, that's a whole other post!

One of the things that has recently helped me in my struggle with paper and planners, is a nice old fashioned "To - Do" list.  I bought a pretty little notebook and started to right down things that needed to get done.

I had so much to do the other day that instead of writing it in my errand planner, I opted for my list.

While going through all my piles of papers I discovered that I had lots of notes here and there.  I am so good at writing notes that I know I wrote it down somewhere but can't figure out where.  Hehe.  As I was cleaning up paper and writing things in my To - Do notebook, I noticed that I was writing notes in there too.  So to fix that problem I found another notebook and now have ONE for strictly To Do's and the other for random notes.  I love Post-it notes but not when they end up in one of my crazy piles!

One of the bad habits that is contributing to these consistent piles of papers is not having a consistent routine with paper.  As I get mail, deal with it, throw it away, file it, shred it.

This summer has been the laziest summer I think I have ever had.  We had a great vacation but then had to take a couple weeks to recover from this vacation.  Now the kids start school next week and I don't even know what happened to the rest of the summer.

I have been scouring the Internet and Pinterest for some ideas on how to contain these papers and I think I have found a couple of great ideas.  In the next couple of weeks I will be sharing a couple different systems that I am going to try.  Hmmm Maybe my First Series?  We'll see how it goes.  I think I need to figure out ROUTINE first.  The kids are starting school and extra curricular activities and that's all routine and this mama has a hard time with routine so I have to figure out what is going to work.

What kind of paper issues are you having?  What has worked for you?

Until Next time

I ARC'd My Erin Condren

I know, I know it sounds like a crime right?!  Or like I just said a really bad word.   I have to say that I am super happy about this decision.  I kept going back and forth about whether or not to do it.  But in the end I did it and now I'm going to show you just how I did it.

I am currently on my third Erin Condren.  I absolutely fell in love with this planner.  But let me give you a little bit of a disclaimer, I LOVE planners.  I'm pretty sure I have mentioned that I have gone through quite a few, in one year.  I figured since I know that I go through a couple planners a year that I should just go ahead and take the chance at ARC'ing this bad boy.  So I did it.

My brain seems to work a little slow on things like this.  Originally when I wanted to ARC this, I couldn't find a notebook that it would fit in.  I've seen a lot of people, online, take apart their Erin Condrens and put them in an A5 Filofax.  I tried to put a sheet of the EC in a Junior size notebook and it didn't fit.  My heart was crushed!! DUH, that's when I realized to ARC the cover.  HAHA sometimes I have to laugh at myself, well often, I have to laugh at myself.

Here are the tools that I used to do this.

Here's the before...

For those of you that use this beautiful planner, you know that it has a nice new metal coil.  This is one of her newest updates.  It used to have a plastic coil.

So the first thing I had to do was pull out the coil. Make sure to use a tool that will help you hold and pull on that wire.  I did this while watching TV so it would be a little more enjoyable ;)

Once I was able to uncoil the wire, I was able to straigten it out and pull just a few pages out.

I realized that there was no way I was going to be able to take the planner apart with the wire like that so I snipped a couple pieces off.

Once that part of the wire came off it was easy sailing from there.

DONE!

First let me apologize for the quality of the pictures.  I certainly will not be winning any awards for my photography.

This is pretty much what the page will look like when it comes out, not ripped of course.  I forgot to take a picture of the pages when they came out, so I ripped one out of my old one, hehe.

The first thing I did was lined it up as close to the cutting line as possible.  You want to make sure that you don't cut off too much of the page so you don't cut in to the calendar part.

Then slice it!  I know nerve racking right?  Well, I held my breath the whole time just so my breathing wouldn't mess me up.

DONE!  You can see that it didn't cut in to the page at all.

EEEEEEeeeekkkk!

That's the WHOLE planner!

I did the cover first so I had a template to make sure the paper would line up correctly.  Simply line it to the Junior size.  When you do this try and use the blank note pages first to practice, or cut a sheet of paper to size so if you mess up you're not wasting part of the calendar.

There is the sheet...

Here is a full view of the month.  You can see that it may cut in to one of the dates on the left side.  But really it's not that big of a deal, I know what number comes after 16 hehe.

Here's a view of the week.

As of now I haven't added anything in to the Erin Condren which was one of the main reasons I decided to do it.  But I'm going to go ahead and call this a success.  I think I fell in love with this planner all over again!

Until next time
