2014 Year End Review

2014 has been a great year.  I feel like each year that passes goes quicker and quicker.  My little ones are growing so fast and I feel like I am just not ready for it.  I know it has to happen but I wish time would slow down just a little!

Every year on the 31st of December many people vow to make changes in their life for 2015.  I've been around a while and failed so many times in making these crazy promises to myself.  This year I decided I want the best for 2015.  This means living each day to its fullest and if I decide I want to make changes, Monday is always a good place to start.  I don't want to put a crazy list of things I want to change and try to do them all at once.  I've tried this and failed every year.  The expectations are just too high and I don't want to start off a new year failing.

One thing I have accomplished this year, has been being consistent with my blog.  I am pretty proud that I have really made an effort at working at this.  I do this for fun.  I love to share the things I have.  It's a creative outlet for me.  I may not be the best writer, my grammar sucks, or the best photographer but that's ok, I'm totally enjoying this.

With that being said, here's a recap of my year in blogland.

In March of this year we said Good-bye to our home of 5 years.  It was one of the hardest good-byes we had.  The kids started Pre-K at the school they attended.  Needless to say, friendships were made and saying Good-Bye was NOT easy.

We said Hello to a new home, a new TINY home that caused me some MAJOR anxiety and LOTS of tears!

I discovered a very cool rebate that I had ignored for a very long time!  It always pays to read the fine print!

When moving in to a new home, there always ends up being things you end up organizing.  Here are my FAVORITE organizing posts of the year.

And for those of you that still have warranties and owners manuals that you keep on hand and are not digital, here's how I organize ours:

This year I was lucky enough to be featured on A BOWL FULL OF LEMONS One Project At A Time.  This post has gone "viral" for ME, over 13,000 views.  I had NO idea this would happen but I'm so glad it did because it's motivated me to do so much more!

I LOVE planners and it seems like many people do too.  I took an Erin Condren planner and ARC'd it.

I made it easy to use Plastic sleeves with dividers.

I got ready with a planner that holds all my Christmas stuff in ONE spot.

I also shared my Planner "Plan" for 2015

I shared some personal stuff.

My Kiddos going Back To School

I shared a couple of Parties,

And a Pinterest Party, say what?!

Last but not least, I TOTALLY stepped out of my comfort zone and got in to sharing some outfits!  Dare I say Fashion posts?!  Well lets not go there, I wouldn't call it fashion, I would call it putting together a super cute wardrobe!

Style Me Pretty Challenge

Whooo, it's been a great year!  I've made some great new friends and have learned to LOVE this tiny little house.  I came to the realization that this is not our forever home and I'm thankful we have what we have regardless of the size.  I've gone back to work and realized that I'm much more motivated to accomplish things at home because now I have less time to do it.  I don't work full time but it is so nice to be outside of the home after 10 years of staying at home.  I'm lucky enough to see my kids off to school and be home before they get home.  I am beyond lucky for that opportunity!  Thanks Jenni!

I hope 2015 is as good as this year and hope you have the best New Years yet!

Until Next Time

Winter/Holiday Style Me Pretty Challenge. Week 3.

Can you believe it is Christmas Eve?!  I'm sure there are a ton of households that are nice and busy today.  My house is one of them.  I will be at work and my hubby will be at home with the kiddos relaxing and cooking a turkey!  We celebrated Thanksgiving at a friends house this year and I was totally bummed not to have left overs so we decided to cook for Christmas.

Last week went by so fast.  I'm not sure if it's because of the holiday or because I am back at work or both!  I've been coming home after work and crashing on the couch for a nice little nap.  Now I feel like my little naps are earned ;)  HA when is a mothers nap not earned.

This week has been a fun week of outfits.  I must say that this challenge has been such a great PICK ME UP.  It came at perfect timing!

So without more rambling, here is week 3 of my Style Me Pretty Winter/Holiday challenge. (New Years Resolution, take better pictures!)

Day NINE:
Dressy Sweater, Skinny Jeans, Riding Boots.
I have a couple different dressy sweaters that I LOVE.  I don't have a lot of places to go so when I wear them I have to make them work for more dressed down occasions. I opted for black leggings with this grey dressy sweater instead of skinny jeans.

Day TEN:
Long Cardigan, Neutral Tee, Gray Jeans, Ugg Boots, Boot Socks.
Ayayay I was totally off on this one.  I only have a couple long cardigans and no gray jeans so I went with comfort since I had to work. I'm lucky enough to be able to wear tennis shoes to work.  That being said, they must be cute ;)  I actually LOVED this outfit.

Day ELEVEN:
Tunic Sweater, Plaid Scarf, Leggings, Ugg Boots, Boot Socks.
This outfit is PURE comfort and I LOVE it. (The picture is ugly because, well, I took the picture at night and had to lighten it up.)

Day TWELVE:
Long Sleeved Tee, Statement Necklace, Skinny Jeans, Black Heels.
Ahhh this is totally Pinterest Inspiration.  My necklace wasn't as long as the necklace was in my Inspiration pin but I would say I came pretty darn close!  It's definitely a dark black sweater but again, my camera taking skills SUCK!

Day THIRTEEN:
Dressy Sweater, Pencil Skirt, Printed Tights, Black Heels, Dressy Clutch.
Let's be real, sometimes you just DON'T want to get dressed...this was one of those days!  Fashion Police come get me, I have mixed two TOTALLY different leopard prints!

Day FOURTEEN:
Poncho, Neutral Tee, Gray Jeans, Print Scarf, Riding Boots, Boot Socks.
I don't have a poncho or boot socks or gray jeans, so I thought I would just wear something fun.  I'm in LOVE with this J'adore sweater I found at Target for about $5 on clearance.  I added a white collared shirt underneath for some extra pretty!

Day FIFTEEN:
Tunic Sweater, Printed Scarf, Skinny Jeans, Wedge Boots.
This is my FAVORITE outfit of the week.  I opted for a printed sweater since I don't have a good solid tunic.  I'm in love with my wedge boots from Kmart and I LOVE adding bling.  No matter what size I am, the bling ALWAYS fits!

There's only six outfits left.  I will be so sad when this is over but I feel like I will definitely continue on with styling some outfits.

Don't forget to check out the FABULOUS bloggers I've teamed up with.

Winter/Holiday Style Me Pretty Challenge. Week 2.

WOW!!! What a difference one week can make!  I can't even tell you what this challenge has done for me.  I am absolutely LOVING the responsibility of getting myself dressed.  Ask me one month ago and I would be picking out those classy yoga pants and favorite sweatshirt.

This week I have some fun new outfits to share.  What I have realized is that I need some color in my life.  I tend to gravitate towards darker colors.  But that's ok, it works for me.

Here is week two of THIS fabulous challenge! With another dose of awkward selfies!

Day THREE:
Poncho, Long Sleeved Tee, Printed Scarf, Skinny Jeans, Wedge boots.
I totally didn't have a pancho or wedge boots so I opted for something totally different.  I decided that since I knew I was sharing my outfits, I HAD to have something cute.  So I chose, a polka dot collared shirt, red cable knit sweater, denim jeans and leopard tennis shoes.

Day FOUR:
Plaid Shirt, Puffer Vest, Black Jeans or Leggings, Wedge Boots.
This was one of my favorite outfits of the week!  And guess what, as I was walking out of the house hubby said, "You look nice!" WOOT, WOOT!  I'll take that as a win!

LOVE this combo!

Day FIVE:
Long Cardigan, Neutral Tee, Fur Scarf, Skinny Jeans, Riding Boots.
I was super excited about this outfit.  I fell in love with this sweater when I bought it.  I opted for a dark tee and Fuggs (fake Uggs).  My black riding boots are not comfy for a day of work.  I'm still on the hunt for a fur scarf and I'm still super sad about it so no scarf for today.

I found this necklace when I bought my cardigan.  Pretty good match if you ask me ;)

Day Six:
Dressy Sweater, Grey Jeans, Black Heels.
Well I totally went off script for today.  We had a holiday party to go to so I wore a dress.  I planned on one dress and ended up wearing something completely different.  Didn't plan on sharing but took a couple selfies for fun.

My handsome hubby and I.  Gotta love red roaming lights.

Day Seven:
Plaid Shirt, Cable Knit Sweater, Statement Necklace, Black Pants, Black Heels, Dressy Clutch.
Ummmm, no outfit today.  Sunday was my first day off in one week.  I'm not working a full time job but it has been an adjustment for me.  Sunday, I wore a sweatshirt, jeans and tennis shoes.  I had to do laundry and run errands.  But during the week I was able to pick up a couple of items off my list that I didn't have.

A couple pairs of booties!! Woot Woot!  No Nordstrom anywhere close so I improvised and went with these from Kmart.  Buy one get one for $1.  Yup TWO pairs for $30!  Great score, now to wear them.

Fancy sweater!  Leopard print anything pretty much makes me smile and works for me.  This print worked especially because it had sequins!

Day EIGHT:
Long Sleeved Tee, Puffer Vest, Skinny Jeans, Fur Scarf, Ugg Boots, Boot Socks.
And here is where I realized that I like dark colors.  I'm wearing a dark blue/navy long sleeved tee with my "skinny" jeans (denim leggings).  In better lightning it looked much better.  (I may need to rethink my selfie spot).  And there are my FUGGS!! (fake Uggs, I just haven't taken the plunge to spend the money on the real ones)

Super comfy, super put together outfit!

Day NINE:
Dressy Sweater, Skinny Jeans, Riding Boots.
And here is my leopard "Dressy" sweater with denim "skinny" jeans (my leggings) and my black riding boots.  I had FUN with this outfit and my picture.  I decided to find a new spot for my "selfie" and had a SASSY moment because my son was taking my picture.  I also had a lot of fun adding some cute accessories with this outfit.

My silly selfie face.

Another dark outfit but it's ok.  There are plenty other seasons for me to wear color!

I hope you liked this week of outfits.  Make sure to come back next Wednesday to see the next week of the challenge.  I'm excited to wear a couple pieces I haven't worn yet.

Definitely check out the Blog party I have teamed up with.  There are some super cute ladies with GREAT style.  There is even a closet I want to move in to.

Organizing Warranties and Owner's Manuals

Are you all ready for Christmas?!  Eeek I can't believe it's next week.  This past week I was lucky enough to have my blender quit on me.  I know who calls that lucky?!  Well lucky for me, hubby got me a new blender, a Ninja!! I'm super excited about it but super annoyed at myself because I haven't even used it yet.  Our house is so small, the accessory pieces are literally in three parts of the house.  I won't tell you about the crying fit I had because of our tiny kitchen.  I'll keep that to myself.

In getting the new blender, it came with warranties and owner's manuals.  Ugh just another thing to have to to keep somewhere.  For the past few years I had a system in place but I figured now was the perfect time to really get it all together.  This comes just in time for Christmas gifts that come with all that paper fun.

I grabbed a good 3 inch binder and some really great three hole punch poly sleeve envelopes (affiliate link).

After I figured out how I wanted to organize everything, I grabbed all the manuals and warranties and put them in a pile.

I was not excited to go through this pile but I knew the end result would be worth it.  I separated like items together.

I separated them in to these categories:
Warranties
Home Appliances
Electronics
Office Equipment
Camera Equipment
Kids Electronics
Sports Equipment
Jewelry
Home Hardware

Before "finalizing" the categories, I wrote down the category on a post it.

One of the most important things when buying electronics or appliances is the warranty.  At the very front of the binder,  I simply wrote down the current warranties and when they expire.  I decided to go against typing it out because when something comes in, I just want to be able to write it down, in the order I got it.  I then put the paper in a plastic sleeve.

I labeled the outside of my binder with my label maker!

A big binder is a good idea because with the poly envelopes filled, this notebook can get pretty big.

When I open the binder the first thing I see is the warranties in the plastic sleeve for easy view and access if I need to add something.

Next is warranties because this will help me if something goes wrong with an item.

And then with the LOVELY labels made with my label maker, my binder is done and organized!

I apologize for my pictures.  I always seem to end up taking pictures at night when the kiddos are in bed and all household chores are done.  The result, not so fancy pictures.  It makes me sad but it's ok hehe.  I'll work on it next year.

Do you have your manuals and warranties organized?  How do you organize them?

Until Next Time
