Table Decor That You'll Actually Use!

If you're lucky enough to have a home with two dining rooms, one of them might be beautifully decorated all the time.  Me, not so much!

We eat at our dinner table two times a day, five days a week.  Friday nights to Sunday we kind of eat wherever we feel comfy.  One thing that I do like is decor.  Well, I should say love!  I mean if I could, my house would look like the interior of Pier 1 Imports or Kirklands.  Just like, ooh look at that, ooh look at this, ooh ooh ooh.  YUP! I love me some home decor.

Last year we traded in our bar height table for a regular height table.  You can see that here.  I am still absolutely in love with my table from Pier 1.  One thing that I have not been able to conquer is a piece of decor that can stay put so my table doesn't look so plain.  I've tried putting something in the middle and it always ends up getting in the way come dinner time.  Since our table is not in the kitchen, we are always needing napkins and salt and pepper.  It has gotten to be an annoying task.

So I got to thinking and came up with something great!

I couldn't stand looking at an empty table.  To me, it's like an empty wall.  When I see an empty wall, I HAVE to fill it or it'll make me twitch!

I've had this tray for quite a while now.  I think I got it at Target a few years ago.  It has served many purposes and has had many homes.  But last year, when we bought this new table I knew I had found the perfect home for it.

I've had this gorgeous beaded basket for quite a while.  It too, has served many purposes.

Salt & Pepper shakers are sometimes necessary for certain meals.  These shakers match our dinner plates.

Since Valentine's Day has come and gone, it is now time to get ready for St. Patricks Day.  On a recent outing with my friend Jenni, we stopped at Dollar Tree.  She is obsessed with pretty napkins.  The obsession is rubbing off on me!

I've also become just a little obsessed with the cute paper straws you now see everywhere.
I decided at Christmas that I would do a monthly "theme" of straws.  There's so many holidays and these straws are available in all color schemes.  And what better way to hold these adorable straws than this cute straw holder!

I couldn't be more pleased with how this turned out.  We have eaten at the table many times and haven't had to move the tray at all.  It doesn't get in the way.  I think the straw dispenser is what finished everything off for me.  I had been thinking about it for a while and never committed to it.  Jenni helped convince me that it was probably a good idea.
